(Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2017-12-05)
Meltwater runoff from the Greenland ice sheet surface influences surface mass balance (SMB), ice dynamics, and global sea level rise, but is estimated with climate models and thus difficult to validate. We present a way to measure ice surface runoff directly, from hourly in situ supraglacial river discharge measurements and simultaneous high-resolution satellite/drone remote sensing of upstream ...
    • On the Role of the Atmospheric Energy Transport in 2xCO2-Induced Polar Amplification in CESM1

Graversen, Rune; Langen, Peter L. (Journal article; Tidsskriftartikkel; Peer reviewed, 2019-06-12)
A doubling of the atmospheric CO2 content leads to global warming that is amplified in the polar regions. The CO2 forcing also leads to a change of the atmospheric energy transport. This transport change affects the local warming induced by the CO2 forcing. Using the Community Earth System Model (CESM), the direct response to the transport change is investigated. ...
